Iridology

Close up of an iris

What is Iridology?

The eyes are the window to the soul! I’m sure you’ve heard this saying before, but the eyes can also provide valuable information about your health.

The art of iridology began with the Ancient Egyptians. Iridology gained popularity in the 19th and 20th centuries as doctors began studying the iris (the coloured part of the eye) and realised there was a correlation between markings in the iris and the person’s health issues. They developed iridology maps that mapped out the whole body over the iris.

An iridologist looks at the markings and colourings of the iris and assesses what areas of the body may be affected.

Iridology can show a weakness in a particular area, for example, if you had recurring tonsillitis as a child, there may be a mark or weaker iris fibres showing over the tonsil area of the iris.

The iris can show health information from past generations, as well as issues that could be impacting you right now, or may impact you in the future.

Iridology is a fascinating tool that is often used to verify the practitioner’s treatment protocol, depending on the information gleaned through thorough patient questioning and the iridology assessment.

During your consultation, iridology is used as a tool to assess your body’s strengths and weaknesses, and to determine the areas of the body that may benefit from extra nurturing with herbs, Bach Flowers, good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
